Ramachandran's experiments

In chapter 2, "blind sight" syndrome , in which a patient with visual cortex damage is able to use an alternative spared brain pathway to guide his hand to reach out and touch the spot. This patient has a representation of the light spot in his spared pathway, but without his visual cortex he has no representation of the representation. He makes the distinction between seeing something and knowing that you see it.

Reproductive System

I've learned that the reproduction system is a system of sex organs for the purpose of reproduction.....and many more..... The major organs of the human reproductive system include the external genitalia; penis and vulva, as well as other internal organs, including the gamete producing gonads. Diseases of the human reproductive system are very common and widespread, also known as STDs.

Female and Male Dissection

I found the video to be extremely graphic, especially watching it in the morning. I never i'd see so many "skin" in school. But i guess it's a necessity for learning purposes. Anyway, this video showed both female's and the male's sex organs, and they went over them in details. For example, the penis was shown internal and externally. And for the female, uterus is shown, and now i know where babies come from.

Pee Pee Tool

Scientists and doctor examine urine by the color and other attributes of urine. They can be indicators of certain diseases. A cultural urine test is performed when a urinary infection is suspected. Doctors would give a microscopic examination of the urine. This would be helpful to identify organic substrates and help in the diagnosis.

Pig Dissection

I had a great time with this dissection, because I've never done anything like this throughout my four years of high school. Although, the pig reeks and it was annoying to wash it out every once in awhile. Dissecting this pig is like a puzzle, and is to be handled cautiously. If a mistake was made, an organ would not be replaceable.

Digestive System from the Video.

I've learned that this is the organ that takes in food, and digests them to produce energy and nutrients, and eventually disposes the waste. Humans usually have a small intestine and a large intestine which is about 20 feet long.
